An Evening of Classic (Spooky) Radio

This Halloween season, join radio historian Steve Darnall, host of “Those Were the Days” on WDCB-FM, for an evening of spooky sounds and stories from and about the Golden Age of Radio, when creaking doors and Martian invasions thrilled and terrified the nation.

Date/Time: Wednesday, October 26, 2011 from 7pm-8:30pm
Location: Evanston History Center, 225 Greenwood St.

Bike the Ridge!

Green Living Festival

Community Picnic: Free Lightbulbs, Backpacks and School Supplies!

Every Evanston resident is invited to this community picnic at Ingraham Park, located just west of the Morton Civic Center on August 28 from noon till 5p. The fun includes a NEW 3-on-3 basketball tournament, a performance by the Jesse White Tumblers, two entertainment stages, balloon art, face painting, a dunk tank, bingo and board games. CFL lightbulbs will be distributed free of charge. Children enrolled in School Districts #65 and 202 will receive a backpack and school supplies, as supplies last.*

Duck Race!

RESCHEUDLED!  This was rescheduled due to weather…it will be held on August 27 from 3-5p.

It’s that time again!  The Evanston Environmental Association’s Duck Rack and Pluck will take place this Saturday, August 13, at Dawes Park.  Sponsor one duck for $10, or a “Quack Pack” of three for $25.  Ducks are floated in the lagoon, and then winners are chosen.  You can take your ducky home after the race.  For more info or to reserve your duck, call 847-448-8256.  Funds raised from the event go towards the Evanston Ecology Center’s resident critters.
